Our History

A legacy of innovation and growth

On October 1, 2001, MISA was formed from the merger of the Iron and Steel Divisions of Marubeni America Corporation and the Metals Division of ITOCHU International Inc.

MISA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marubeni-Itochu Steel Inc. (MISI). MISI was also born on October 1, 2001, created by the merger of the Steel Divisions of Marubeni Corporation and ITOCHU Corporation in Japan. This merger of two major Japanese general trading firms was the first of its kind.

Today, MISA continues to benefit from its parent company's strength in information technologies, distribution, finance, human resources and other fields to meet the ever-expanding needs of our customers.

MISA has also formed several subsidiaries: Marubeni-Itochu Steel Canada Inc. (MISC) and Marubeni-Itochu Steel Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (MISMEX).
