Description:
Join our team at Marubeni-Itochu Steel America Inc. (MISA), which is located in New York City or Houston, Texas. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, who can work independently with hands-on experience and strong understanding of Indirect taxes such as Sales & Use, Personal Property, Gross Receipts, Commercial Rent, and licensing. In this role, you will be responsible for tax return preparation, reporting, compliance, and planning projects. This position will report directly to the Tax Director.
Responsibilities: Review sales tax returns for proper treatment of goods sold and prepare monthly returns for applicable US taxing jurisdictions Perform monthly and quarterly use tax calculations Research state and local indirect tax legislation to assist team with their business schemes Maintain all business licensing at the state and local level and apply for new licenses as needed Support in tax audits by fulfilling data requests and gathering supporting documentation, including responding to notices from state and local tax authorities Prepare quarterly tax calculations and payments for commercial rent tax, business taxes, and personal property tax Post and/or provide various tax accrual journal entries Participate in ad-hoc projects as needed and, Ability to balance and meet concurrent deadlines.

Qualifications: BS/BA in Accounting 5 years of Indirect Tax experience Proficient in Microsoft Office, expert in Excel with modeling and efficient spreadsheet usage. Strong interpersonal/communication skills and ability to interact with corporate management and accounting. Must be a self-starter, capable of working independently. Ability to adapt to change and reprioritize tasks as needed
