Marubeni-Itochu Steel America is part of a global team trading in a wide range of steel products. We are currently seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to be primarily responsible for supporting and facilitating income and franchise tax compliance, accounting and research. This position will report directly to the Director, Tax.
• Facilitate the Company’s global tax compliance responsibilities through coordination of third parties (including but not limited to data collection and review of work papers and returns)
• Assist in the preparation of federal and state income tax returns, and sales tax, property tax, and franchise tax returns.
• Assist in the preparation of income tax workpapers, monthly, quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations.
• Reconcile tax accounts included in the general ledger and financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation of tax footnotes included in the Company’s audited financial statements.
• Gather transactional information for the annual transfer pricing study
• Prepare apportionment detail for state income tax calculations.
• Preparation of all tax-related journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis and financial statement variances
• Work with Company’s foreign tax compliance agents to ensure timely and accurate reporting
• Assist with tax audits including collecting and organizing requested information.
• Working knowledge of annual foreign bank account reporting forms
• Respond to various government tax agency notices and requests.
• Ability to balance and meet concurrent deadlines.
• BS/BA in Accounting or Masters in Tax or Accounting
• Professional firm experience (Tax return preparation) is a plus.
• 5 years of Corporate Tax experience, including working knowledge of ASC 740.
• Basic understanding of transfer pricing concept
• Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus (but not required)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, expert in Excel with modeling and efficient spreadsheet usage.
• Strong interpersonal/communication skills and ability to interact with corporate management and accounting.
• Must be a self-starter, capable of working independently.
• Ability to adapt to change and reprioritize tasks as needed
Other Desired Skills:
• Working knowledge and ability to assist with the calculation of Base Erosion Anti-Abuse Tax (BEAT)
• Working knowledge and ability to assist with the calculation of Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income (GILTI)
• Working knowledge and ability to maintain E&P schedules
